A Galway native, Howard felt the service was needed where people could have a place to leave their dogs during the day while they were away from their dog for a number of hours - be it going to work or to an appointment. There were Daycare centres in Dublin and Cork but none in Galway and thus Doggie Daycare Galway was born. He decided to set up in the Liosban Industrial Estate where he could service the city centre along with the western side of Galway city and to offer more unique services such as "Home from Home Dog Boarding" and "Doggie Camp".​

Howard has an Oxford MBA and has studied in a variety of colleges both in Ireland and the UK, although his passion was always animals, especially dogs. So over the last few years he studied to become a certified dog trainer using positive reward based methods through Dog Training Ireland. Howard is also an excellent groomer and dog handler.

Howard has the proud distinction of being one of only a handful of Canine Behaviourists in Ireland and Ireland's only certified Canine Nutritionist. He also has levels 1 & 2 of 'Usui Shiki Ryoho' in natural 'Reiki' healing.
